Meet Sumika

🎐Who is Sumika ?

Sumika is not real—but her questions are.
She speaks from the space between trust and uncertainty.

She’s not just a character.

She represents every professional caught between duty and silence.

And she’s asking the question: Who diagnosed you?

She is a mother, a pathologist, and a worker in today’s healthcare system.

She walks the line between professional uncertainty and personal responsibility
— always with her child by her side.

In this project,
Sumika serves as a symbolic figure:

Someone who lives inside the system, but dares to question it.

Someone who holds both a diagnosis and a doubt.

Someone who understands that trust in medicine begins with transparency.

Through her, we hope to tell a story not only of institutional failure,
but also of the quiet strength it takes to confront it.

Imagine this:

Your child asks,

"Mom, what does a diagnosis mean?"

From that moment, this project was born.

Both mother and daughter share the name Hanabuchi.
In that quiet moment on the bench, this story found its name—and its beginning.
